Articles of Association
Columbia City High School Alumni Association
We, the undersigned, acting as duly agents, being persons over the age of twenty-one years, citizens of the United States of America, for the purpose of founding and continuing this association do hereby certify the following:
First
The name of the association is Columbia City High School Alumni Association, hereafter referred to as CCHSAA.
Second
The period of the duration of the association shall be perpetual.
Third
The CCHSAA shall be for public benefit. The purpose for which the CHSAA is organized are exclusively religious, charitable, scientific, literary, and educational within the meaning of section 501 C (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue law.
Fourth
The powers and purposes of the CCHSAA shall be:
1. Promote the CCHSAA "MISSION STATEMENT" per the by-laws.
2. Locate alumni and maintain a current database with the help of CCHS CLASS COORDINATORS by school year.
3. To support and promote the Columbia City High School within the community. To help with funding with new and old scholarships for students of CCHS.
4. To manage its internal affairs within the law of the state of Indiana.
5. To make and amend the by-laws as required.
6. To take, manage, hold and dispose of property of CCHSAA. No Officers, Board of Directors or members may receive any income from the association.
7. CCHSAA shall be guided by the rules for associations as required by the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, under section 501 C - 3 or any future laws.
Fifth
This association shall have such powers as are necessary to carry out its stated purposes as allowed under the laws of the state of Indiana and under guidelines of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding provisions of any future United States Internal Revenue involved.
Sixth
Upon the dissolution of the association, the Board of Directors shall, after paying or making provisions for payment of all liabilities of the association, dispose of all the assets of the association exclusively for the purpose of the association in such manner as shall at the time qualify as an exempt organization under Section 501 C (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or future laws of the IRS. Any assets not disposed of shall be disposed of by the Chancery Court of the County in which the principal office of the association is then located.
Seventh
The Board of Directors of this association shall be elected by the membership of the association consistent with the guidelines specified in the by-laws of the association.
Eighth
Membership in the association will consist of three levels as specified in the by-laws of the association.
